ABOUT FUR, FINS & FEATHERS:

Everyone relates to animals, whether it’s a beloved pet, the mesmerizing movement of fish in an aquarium, or cheerful, singing birds.

Animals either wild or domestic are often portrayed in paintings as supporting characters. For example, in Frida Kahlo’s Self Portrait with Monkeys, or perhaps, the main subject as in Henry Matisse’s, The Goldfish, and one of the most famous bird paintings ever, Carel Fabritius’ The Goldfinch.

From realism to abstraction, we asked our artists to depict these wondrous creatures in art for our animal-themed show. This group show was juried by the Leslie Grove Gallery Committee.
